ADMIRAL’S TRIAL
ALGIERS, May 11. Vice-Admiral Edmond Derrien, accused of surrendering the French Fleet and naval • base of Bizerta to the Germans in 1942 after the Allied landing in North Africa was placed on trial to-day. He was wearing full dress with the Star of a Grand Officer of the Legion .of Honour. He stood in the dock, where Fucheu was sentenced to death. Derrien is also liable to the death penalty. The prosecutor demanded the death sentence at the trial of Vice-Admiral Derrien who was accused of surrendering Bizerta and also-. 16 French warships to the Germans in December 1942. ,
