LABOUR FOR SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION. P.A. WELLINGTON, Ma v 11. Construction of school build ngs, also additions or alterations thereto, is declared essential by a notice in tonight’s Gazette. The Minister of Industrial Manpower, Hon. A. McLagan states that although this particular work does not come within the scope of the essential building works labour legislation modification order, the industry has agreed with the Commissioner of Works to follow the wages and hours of work stipulated in that order. The Oil Fuel Controller had arranged for these problems to be studied bv a special committee, and a small leaflet had been produced setting out certain precautions which'-everv motorist should take to ensure the maintenance of his car in a satisfactory condition. Copies of the leaflets were being distributed through local officers of the Transport Denartment, Automobile Associations, and the motor trade generally.
