The sum of £lB7 15s 6d was deposited as national savings last week in Hokitika, being a surplus of £l7 lbs 6d The Farmers’ Union will be nominating Mr. Mark Wallace, Chairman of the Westland Co-operative Dairy Company, for the County seat on the Greymouth Harbour Board. _ The Mobile Health Exhibition in the Soldiers’ Hall'was officially opened bv the Mayor, Mr. A. R. Elcock last evening. More than 300 were oresent. Dr. Simpson opened the proceedings. The Mayor complimented the Denartment and the start on the excellent exhibition. Mr. E. W. Heenan (chairman of the Hospital Board) expressed thanks for the invitation to be present and compli mented the Department and those in charge on the excellent show irom which he hoped much good would result. Mrs. Neil (President of the Women’s Institute) said the Institute would do all possible to make the exhibition a success. Mrs. McIntyre (Plunket Society) said that the local branch of the Societv had a special interest .in the exhibit. The building of a healthy nation had to start with the babies. The Society was appreciative of great help given by the Department, with the various services. , , ~ Miss Frenglev in an interesting talk, dealt with every section of the exhibit. The people were invited to inspect each bay, and a member of the staff wa's on hand to explain details. v Then moving pictures dealt with various aspects of health, the displays being highly interesting. The school children were iat the exhibition to-day. Dr. SimpI son expressed thanks to the Mayor and Council for the assistance given.
