It is believed that Japanese troops in this coastal sector may be dispersing among villages on the Sepik River, which is navigable for a considerable distance. Allied patrol torpedo-boats, operating at night, have shelled coastal targets. Allied aircraft from S'olomons have made further attacks on Kavieng (New Ireland) and Rabaul (New Britain), where Rapopo airfield was the main objective.
