Smith has received word that her husband who is a prisoner of war, has been transferred from Camp 107, Italy to Stalag XVIHA, Germany. v Mr. M. S. O’Malley, of Cronadun had the misfortune to have his blacksmith’s workshop and contents totally destroyed by fire this morning at 2 o’clock. Mrs. O’Malley was awakened by barking dogs and saw the reflection of the flames. She quickly aroused the other occupants of the hotel, who formed themselves into a bucket brigade and worked strenuously carrying water from the nearby creek. Although they were unable to save the building, they were successful in stopping the fire from spreading to the hotel, grocer’s shop and grain store by throwing water over the walls. Mr. O’Malley is a loser to the extent of over £4OO, Included in the contents were a lathe, circular saws, tools of all descriptions and an electric power plant, which served the hotel.
