Stafford Street. The holiday season has come and gone. The local mines were all open for work on Wednesday when a fair comolement of workers turned out. The' weather has been ideal during the whole of the hol’dyas and those who did not go away spent a good time picnicing. swimming etc. Owing to the low state of the Blackball Creek through the dry weather, the town water supply has been shortened. There is enough water coming through if it were d’stributed equitably but some selfish neople will insist in damming back the water and diverting it into other channels, where it only supplies themselves, i-he residue bemg dost over the terrace. In spite of the -vigilance of the man in charge th>s thing goes on immediately his back is turned. I want to appeal to those concerned. Always remember there are other people in the village and the water is meant for the use of all. , . The fine weather has lent itself for the burning off of rubbish growth. Many bush fires have been raging round the township, the Place being under a pall of smoke. While burning is necessary in most cases, there are always some irresponsible people who will light a fire where it is unnecessary and can cause irreparable damage. More care should be exercised. It is a great nity to see the bush spoiled. After ail it takes a tree a long time to grow and these bare starred hillsides are not a pleasing sight. <
