SPORTING

RACING AND TROTTING Reefton Jockey Club FINAL MEETING OF CIRCUIT. The meeting of the Reefton Jockey Club will conclude the most successful circuit in the history of the sport. As was the case at Gpeymouth large' fields are assured and the track, which is recognised as the fastest on the West Coast is in excellent condition. No rain had fallen in Reefton up to 9 p.m. last evening, and prospects for a fine day are excellent. The win and place system of betting will be in use. The Noble Hack Handicap should find Hamish. Little Secret and Owaka coming in for most suppqrt, with Pedantic? also likely to have a fair following. In the Novice Stakes are the winners Helenora, Silver Sal and Falconbridge. The winner should come from this trio, and perhaps Falconbridge with his concession in weight will be preferred. Both trotting races have filled well. In the Broadway Trot, Highland Pride, on her Westport showing, will not be neglected, while many will fancy Ovend. in view of his good form on the second day at Omoto. Golden Glow is an improver and he may be the one to upset the more fancied division. Northern Lass appeals most in the Reefton Trot, run over one and a-quarter miles. Her most dangerous opponents may be Noble Reta and Jack’s Treasure. Although he has a big weight, All Night may be too classy for Wise Girl in the Highweight. Another who will go better for a strong horseman is Greenbank. . .

The Irving Memorial, the principal race on the. card, should give Rockery his change. Authentic shapes like making a good stayer and she with Big Top look like disputing the final issue with the top weight. Rout has winning form to recommend him and he may be the elect of bqckers in the Stewards’ Hack. In Chancery is a capable filly and a repetition of her first day’s Omoto form w;ould make her very hard to beat. Of the others. Retainer and Sherwood Forest should make a good showing. . Form in the Highweight should prove a lead to investors in. the Farewell Handicap, and the winner may come from All Night, Wise Girl and Gunyah. The fields and prospects are as follows:—
