FORGERY CHARGES
Against Airman PALMERSTON NORTH, Dec. 21. In the Magistrate’s Court Stanley Comer, a member of a Are crew at a R.N.Z.A.F. station, was charged that on March 16 at Ohakea, he forged the name of G. E. Johnson, on a money order telegram for £34 17s, and also with forging Johnson’s name on a Post Office Savings ißank order for £35. . .Johnson gave evidence that when at Ohakea in March he missed a P.O. Savings Bank book with a credit of £5O in it. Subsequently, at a Post Office he saw a withdrawal form bearing his name, and also a money order telegram. The signatures were forgeries. An Auckland retired accountant. .Mr H. P. Mouran, gave evidence of a similarity in the handwriting on the Post Office documents to that on the accused’s application to join the Air Force. Accused was committed for trial. Bail was allowed.
