The Cobbers’ Club in Hokitika held a meeting at which proposals were advanced for securing a building for club activities. It is understood that a building is under offer, and that negotiations will be finalised shortly. The secretary Mr. Gibson, was appointed to represent the club on the Council of the Youth Movement. The usual increase in traffic to and from South Westland at the Holiday period is now in evidence. For the past few days the services for transport of passengers and goods have been flat’out, the air service having been particularly busy and the company having onlv the one plane to carry out the work. The bookings to the glaciers of South Westland are very heavy, and the Railway road service' will transport a record number of passengers. A number ot Westland residents are making their wav to other parts of New Zealand for the holidays. A number of school teachers have peen directed to the Glacier hotels to carry out domestic work during the busy period. These teachers, who left tor the glacier region, this morning seem to welcome direction to the glacier region.
