TRADE WITH AUSTRALIA
N.Z. OPPOSITION LEADER. I NOT OPTIMISTIC. (Rec. 11.40.) SYDNEY, Nov. 30. An appeal for fairer trade relations between New Zealand and Australia was made by the Leader of the Opposition in the New Zealand Parliament! Mr. S. G. Holland) in a speech at the Sydney Millions Clu'o. He said that New Zealand’s adversebalance trade with Australia was increasing so rapildv that it could only be adjusted through credits in London at the expense of trade relations between New Zealand and Britain. Mr. Holland said New Zealand whs glad to buy steel and other heavy manufactures from Australia, but there was an adverse balance of trade between Australia z and New Zealand of more than three million pounds annually, and it was increasing he said.
