HALF A DESTROYER
TOWED TO U.S. PORT. NEW YORK, Nov. 28. The U.S.A, destroyer “Murphy” was •cut in two when it was run down off the east coast by a heavy tanker. The forward part of the destroyer sank in ten minfites. The collision £><> curred 100 miles from port. The rear section of the “Murphy” remained afloat, and it was towed to port. A new forward half is being fitted to the vessel, which will soon be ready for service again.
