They destroyed 47 Japanese planes, 12 of which Were shot down. The U S Fourteenth Air Force Headquarters announced that American and Chinese bombers and fighters bombed and machine-gunned Shinghiku aerodrome, destroying thirltyone planes without lose. The Associated Press Chungking correspondent states: The Sinchuku raid was carried out by China-based Mitchell bombers and long-range fighters The raid caught the Japanese off guard with only a few planes aloft. The bombers covered the aerodrome and installations with tons of fragmentation bombs, ana left ninny blazing planes and buildings.
