Accordingly the German air defences were stretched along a vast front. The Bremen raiders comprised the greatest force of United States bombers yet sent to Germany. This force did much to take the edge off the enemy’s counterattack against the R.A.F. raiders against Berlin and Stuttgart. R.A.F. RAID FRANKFURT. 'LONDON, Nov. 26. On Thursday night R.A.F. bombers attacked Frankfurt on Mam. The weather prevented immediae observation of the results. Mosquitoes were over Berlin again, and mines were laid in enemy waters. Thirteen aircraft were lost. . Crews of the Bomber Command Pathfinder force found a thick cloud three miles deep when-they arrived over Frankfurt. They had to struggle 450 miles through icy clouds, but reached the target at the zero hour, a little before 3 a.m. By the time the main force, mostly Halifaxes, came, the objectives were brilliantly coloured bv flares laid by the Pathfinders. The attack was completed within half an hour. Most of the crews reached Frankfurt without seeing fighters, and though the Germans laid a flarepath into the target, few enemy aircraft were encountered over the town. Searchlights were unable to locate the bombers through cloud. It was one of the coldest, nights for weeks, but brilliantly clear above the cloud where 36 below zero was registered.' , The German News Agency! stated that British bombers last night made a terror raid on Frankfurt and also on Offenbach.
