A temperature of 79 degrees was recorded at Greymouth at 3 o’clocic on Saturdays after a 9 a.m. reading of 68 degrees, the highest at that hour since 69 degrees was recorded on January 25, 1941. The temperature at 6 p.nl. was 72 degrees. Yesterday’s maximum reading was 70 at 6 o’clock last evening; the 3 o’clock reading having been a degree lower. Though there was an absence of cloud over the West Coast yesterday there was an extensive haze inland due to the numerous fires.
