Opera House Now showing: “Rose of Tralee” starring John Longden and Angela Glynn. Every once in a while a film comes along that lives in the memories of all who see it—such a film is “Rose of Tralee.” now showing at the Opera House. There is a charming, heart-warming theme throughout, this picture and the joys and sorrows of Paddy O’Brien, his wife Mary and baby daughter Rose make it grand entertainment. Paddy O'Brien is played by John Longden who, it will be remembered, came to Australia some time ago to make the film, “The Silence of Dean Maitland.' Mary, his wife, is played by Lesley Brook whose performance is touching and sincere, and his daughter, Rose, s portrayed by that engaging lass. Angela Glynne who will be remembered for her fine performance in “Those Kids From Town.” There are many lovely old songs in "Rose of Tralee” and numbered among these are “Macushla.” “Rose of Tralee,” “Mountains o’ Mourne” and ‘Dear Little Shamrock.’'’ Also prominent in the cast are Talbot OT’arreil and Morris Harvey as a pair of lodg-ing-house cronies; George Carney as the villain of the piece and lovely Virginia Keiley, who portrays the role of an American girl who is also in love with Paddy. “Rose of Traee” is a film which offers everything, romance, laughter, songs and comedy.

Hailed as one of the most thrilling and powerful war stories yet to come out. of Hollywood, Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer’s “Reunion in France,” starring Joan Crawford with John Wavne and Phil in Dorn, commences at the Regent Theatre on Monday. “Reunion in France” tells the story of a young carefree French girl who comes face to face with the brutalities of the Nazi occupation of Paris, when she discovers that her wealth is gone, and that her fiance is apparently one of the clique whose Nazi tendencies led to the .betrayal and fall of her country. Produced on. .a convincing scale, with authentic scenes of the. flight from Paris, by the stream of frightened re-1 fugees. “Reunion in France” presents I a nowerful love story filmed against ! the darkest hours of the present world conflict. Included in the cast are Reginald Owen, Albert Basserman, Ann Ayars and John Carra- . dine. |
