Sgt. M. D. Jobling, M.E.F. and Pte D. Jobling are spending a few days leave here. Miss Jean Nicholson, of Wellington, is visiting Waiuta as the guest of Mr and Mrs E. Chandler. Mrs W. Gardiner returned from a holiday in Southland during the week-end.

Mr and Mrs Jas Young are spending a holiday in Christchurch. During Mr Young’s absence Mr Hec. Steele is driving the service bus. Mrs P. Connors is visiting Runanga as the guest of her daughter, Mrs J. Harrington.

Mr Pat Connolly has left for Lyttelton whore ho has accepted a position in essential work. Mr Alex Brooks is visiting Christchurch. Mr H. Courtney was a visitor to Christchurch during the week-end. As a result of a sale of work conducted by the Waiuta branch of the Junior Red Cross, the satisfactory sum of £7 was raised. The committee des’re to thank the public for their generous support. Mr H. Dainer has returned from Christchurch.

Congratulations are extended to Cpl. C. Larcombe on the award of the B.E.M. for service in the Middle East. Cpl. Larcombe is a son of Mr and Mrs W. Larcombe. well-known residents of Waiuta.

Mrs R. D. G. Robertson, who has been ill for the past ten days is improving.

Mr Jack Hill, who has been an nmate of the Reefton Hospital for some weeks, is making a gradual improvement.
