COUNCIL OF SPORT

MEETING AT GREYMOUTH. The monthly meeting of the West Coast Council of Sport was held on Tuesday evening, Mr. J. B. Kent presiding. I Also present were Mrs. J. Robertson, Miss M. Ray, Messrs F. Williams, B. W. Caulton, M. Olsen, J. Griffin and the Secretary (Mr. J. M. McNulty). A request for financial assistance to complete the bowling green at Blaketown was received from the Blaketown-Preston Road Ratepayers’ Association. After some discussion, the matter was held over and the secretary asked to reply saying that the National Council of Spoprt was not yet functioning, but that as soon as it was the Association’s request would be put forward.

A very full,report by the delegates to the national conference in Wellington was presented by Mr. B. W. Caulton and the secretary. Members of the executive expressed their appreciation of the work done in the formation of the National Council and congratulated the delegates on their report. It was stated that a further meeting of the National Council was to be held on November 24, when a constitution will be presented and the formalities entailed completed. The secretary was appointed delegate to this conference, also the chairman, if available. It was decided! ’to .call the next meeting of the Council as soon as the delegates return from Wellington.
