NEW WAR TAXES
OPPOSED BY U.S. SENATORS. WASHINGTON, Oct. 19.
Republican members ot the House Ways and Means Committee have taken a solid stand against any further Federal taxes on individuals or corporate incomes, thus killing outright the Administration’s 10,3U(),000,000 dollar new tax programme. Representative Knutson said that the Republicans, instead of additional taxes, proposed a programme ot Government economy. The Treasury announced that, uie 15,000 million dollars third war loan was over-subscribed; 3,943 million individuals contributed 5,377 million dollars.
