GUERRILLAS IN FRANCE
LONDON, Oct. 19. A News Agency correspondent stated: Sixteen thousand Vichy police and Loval-motorised units have attacked tens of thousands of young Frenchmen, hiding in the Alps. The German Command ordered forces stationed in the Alps to open hostilities on guerrillas operating in the mountains. The correspondent adds that fierce lighting is in progress round Saelanche. lhe civilian population has been ’evacuated irom the entire district or Abounance, Thornce, and Megveteo.
