POST-WAR POLICY

RUGBY, September 21. The United States House of Representatives to-night adopted a measure pledging America to a part in world affairs after the war, or as the resolution states “ a part in the appropriate international machinery to establish a just and lasting peace.” The voting was 360 to 29. In the House of Lords the Minister of Economic Warfare, Lord Selborne said it was known that certain countries, in anticipation of the early occupation of Italy by the Allied forces, contemplated acquiring en-emy-owned assets in Italy. The Governments of the United Kingdom and the United States reserved t he right to treat as invalid any transfer to neural ownership 9! any enemy rights and interests in property in Italy. Nationals or firms in neutral countries acquiring- or purporting to acquire such rights and interests lay themselves open to all the sanctions at the disposal of the Governments of the United States and Britain.
