FATALITY AT FREEZING WORKS. HASTINGS, June 9. During the overhaul of a boiler at. the Whakatu Freezing Works, early this morning, one of the men met with an accident which J e& Uted in his dath. He was Reginald Charles Larsen, engineer, aged dJ, married, residing at Whakatu. While tightening a nut, the spannci slipped and threw him oft his: balance. He fell heavily to the giouna 20 feet below, and apparently landed on his head. He was admitted to t c Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, ■■’Uttering from a fracture ol the skull, and died two hours after admission. He leaves a widow and family of foul young children. MENTAL HOSPITAL APPEALS. WELLINGTON, June .9. Decisions have been announced Dy the Wellington Industrial Manpower Committee, on the appeals heard, last week, when objections were raisea in thirteen cases to the direction ot young women' to the Porirua Mental Hospital for work as nurses. All the employers’ appeals were disallowed, but in six instances, the personal objection to service was allowed,, and m seven cases disallowed.
