LONDON, June 3.

Tlie U.S. Navy in a communique stated: Mitchells. Venturas, Lightnings and Warhawks on Jun e 1 bombed and strafed Kiska, scoring hits on the main camp area and runway and gun emplacements. A number of Canadian Warhawks participated. American troops at Attu on June 1 combed the scattered areas and by noon, had eliminated minor groups of Japanese encountered. The known Japanese dead at Attu total 1791. This figure doe s not include an unknown number killed by artillery fire and bombs. Such casualties were either cremated or buried by the enemy.
