BRITISH ARMY
NOW NEARLY SIZE OF GERMANS.’
RUGBY, May 14.
“Britain now has an army of 6,500,000 —nearly the size of the Germans.’ ” said the British Ambassador to Spain (Sir Samuel Hoare) addressing a meeting of the British com munity.
“The British Empire has again become a great military power,’’ he continued. “We are equipped vast quantities of modern arms and are led bv well-tried military chiefs. The Royal Naw is stronger than athe outbreak of war and it is freed by the Mediterranean victory for ever greater tasks. The African victory, generally, has greatly facilitated the transport, of troops and munitions to any strategic point which may be selected.”
