MEETING PLACES FOR SPIES IN AUSTRALIA ? SYDNEY, May 12. “Night clubs have been used as meeting places for enemy agents,” declared the New South Wales Premier, 'Mr McKell. “In these places they obtained information about troop and shipping movements.” T'he Premier was explaining why he had issued regulations closing down certain night ’ clubs. “The security of Australia is the • purpose of the regulations,” he added. “Night clubs and sly grog shops are cesspools of vice, and have been a blot on our community "'life for years. They helped considerably to destroy the efficiency of our' fighting services. Military authorities are very disturbed about the happenings in these places. They, together with the police, made representations for the issue of these regulations.”
