KUMARA MAIL CLOSING TIME.

Sir, —I noticed in your Kumara correspondent’s notes, he asks who is responsible for the alteration in the times of closing mails in Kumara from 8.30 to 7.30. I would like to know who is responsible for all the alterations here in the Post Office lately. There is no direct mail to Kumara railway and none south. The mail is bundled into a Greymputh bag and then sent to the various places, and you are lucky if you get a reply from Hokitika in a week. Of course this may suit the officials. Surely the public are entitled to a little consideration. It seems the Post Office is run to suit the officials not the public, seeing there are six persons in the office. I think it is high time the Postmaster-General made enquiries into these matters—not to the officials, but to the public or Borough of Kumara. I am etc., WAR EFFORT.
