RAIDS IN ENGLAND
EAST ANGLIA AGAIN BOMBED. LONDON, May 11. In the raid on an East Anglia town a bomb hit a building containing A.T.S. girls. At least 11 bodies have been recovered and the search is continuing for others who are believed to be under the debris. The raiders machine-gunned streets and hit a bus full of workers, injuring several. Many houses were damaged and a number of people were killed. The Berlin radio stated that, the East Anglian town raided to-day was Great Yarmouth. It added that heavy- bombs caused great havoc and many fires. ENEMY PLANE SHOT DOWN. RUGBY. May 11. One raider was shot down and several others damaged when four Mustangs intercepted a formation of Focke Wulfs which attacked an east coast town this morning, A second enemy plane was destroyed by antiaircraft lire.
The Air . Ministry states: This morning aircraft of the Coastal Command destroyed an enemy plane off; the Dutch: coast. During the day Fighter Command aircraft carried out sweeps. Other fighters and aircraft of the Armv Co-operation Command flew a number of offensive patrols over the Channel and the coast of France. One enemy fighter was destroyed, and an enemy ship and several locomotives damaged. One of ours is missing.
