REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.)

REEFTON, May 11

Mrs O’Donohue of Gisborne is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs Isbest-

er. Pilot Officer J. Lockington is spending leave with his parents at Fern Flat. Master Geof. Allen, of the Christchurch Training College, has arrived home for the holidays.

Mr R. Cochrane left this morning for Auckland to meet his son, Arthur, who was wounded when the “Moa” was sunk by enemy action. Visitors to Reefton on Saturday were Mrs and Miss McCormack and Mr and Mrs Burchfield. Mrs V. Chalmers and son have left to spend a holiday in the Lyndhurst district.

Mr M. S. O’Malley of Cronadun, was a visitor to Westport for a few days, and has now returned. Time and tide wait for nobody. Rail cars are no exception as one lady found out last Saturday at a country station. Residents of that district are considering having a flag station at the crossing to do away with the quarter of a mile run to the present station from the roadside.

The employees of the Pyramid coal mine will observe a holiday on Wednesday to attend the funeral of the late Miss C. Morris.

Prizes at the Fire Brigade card evening went to Mrs Ladner (ladies') W. Lockington (gent’s) while Mr E. Rose won the chocolates.
