West Coast local bodies had an excellent case on account of sparsely populated areas. The hospital levy on local bodies on the West Coast averaged whereas in other* parts of New Zealand tor similar towns and counties it was only a halfpenny. Hospital Boards were only receiving bodies, and local authorities were collecting agencies, and therefore were most concerned and should call the conference. Town Clerk were empowered to act as conveners.
