(Rec. 8.20) WASHINGTON, April 8. Mr. Stimson, U.S. Secretary, told the press: Mr.‘La Guardia, Mayor of New York, has offered his services to the armed forces, but it is difficult to find any place in the Army where he could be as helpful as he is as Mayor of New York, where he is rendering directly to New York and indirectly, to the nation most valuable services.”
