BRUNNER NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Smith, are visiting their parents in Dobson. Miss P. Williams has left on a holiday visit to Dunedin. Mrs", W. Gutberlet has returned from a visit to Christchurch. Arthur Mooney, of Wallsend, is a patient of the Greymouth Hospital. He is suffering from a broken arm. A send off was tendered to Private 'R. Buckman in the Wallsend Hall during the week end. Mr. G. Eder, chairman of the soldiers’ farewell committee presented him with the usual wallet and contents. Supper was served bv the ladies’ committee. Miss Watson, Mr. G. Vincent, and Mr. J. McAllum provided the music for dancing. „ The Brunner Returned Soldiers Reception Committee are holding a welcome home social in the Wallsend Hall on Saturday, April 10. Soldiers who have returned to the district from active service will receive a small token of the public appreciation of their service and sacrifice. A meeting was held in the Wallsend Hall op Sunday evening, the Mavor, Mr. J. Smeaton presiding. It was decided that arrangements be made to give Miss M. Watson some suitable recognition of her valuable services in the district. A letter from Miss Watson was read’ in which she stated she didi not want any recognition. The committee appointed however, will still go ahead with the arrangements.
