RELEASE OF YOUTHS

- FROM. N.Z. FORCES. WELLINGTON, April 4. The release of youths in the 18-19 age group from the Army is proceeding smoothly. Applications from young men desiring to leave the forces are going through their unit commanders, thence to the District Man Power Office. Young men leaving the Army are directed through the Man Power Office to their pre-service employment A or, if available for other employment to essential industries. There has been a rush of applications for the release of Grade II and 111 men. These applications are in most cases from employers, many ol whom ar e seeking to. replace Grade 1 men whose services had been postponed by Army Forces Appeal Courts. There have also been a number of applications for release from men at present in camp. With men in these two grades the procedure is for the Man Power Officer to whom the applications come, to inquire from the Army if there arc any objections to the release ot the particular men. If there are objections the cases are carefully considered, but. usually, m the event of the Army offering no objection, the men are directed to industries where they are required. At tne present stage, with Grades II an d men the procedure of referring the cases to the Arniy is now in hand.
