Miss M. White left for Christchurch yesterday. .Driver A. Bowes left yesterday on his return to camp. Mr and Mrs P. Blanchfield left for Christchurch yesterday morning. The following are guests at the Albion Hotel: Mesdames M. Christ-.mas-Harvey, V. Harrison and RDavis, and Messrs K. T. Wright, C> L. Hardy, P. G. Jones, P. Bankier, and F. Ashworth (Christchurch); Messrs Olaf E. Stout, E. Wright, and R. K. Exter ((Wellington); Mrs. E. F. Whitiskie (Otira Gorge); Miss ?• Shannon (Hokitika); and Mr. P. Morant (Weheka). The death has occurred at Napier, after a lengthy illness, of Mrs. Kate Brown, a former resident of the Barrytown district. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget Wafer, and a native of Barrytown. Predeceased by her husband, and by a son and daughter, she leaves one son, William who is in a military camp, and a grandson residing with his mother at Meanee. She is also survived by thre e sisters, Mesdames Andrews and Finn <. Christchurch) and Austin (Dunedin); and by four brothers,' Jack (New Plymouth), Joseph (Runanga), Michael (Rapahoe), and Patrick (Barrytown).

The death took nlace at Greymouth yesterday of Mr George Anderson, a pioneer resident of the Grey district. He was aged 86 years. Mr Anderson was born in Ballarat, Australia, and came to New Zealand in 1876, landing at Greymouth from the "Charles Edward.” He was a tinsmith by trade and for many years was in business at Kumara and Hokitika, and later at Greymouth. More recently he was employed by W. Heinz, tinsmith. Mr Anderson was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than sixty years and was Secretary of the Foresters’ Lodge at Kumara till he left the township, when it became defunct. He was made a life member of Lodge Lazar and latterly was a member of Lodge Mawhera. His wife died several years ago. He leaves two daughters, Mrs E. Williams (Patea), and Mrs C. Collins (Blaketown), and two sons, William and Thomas (Blaketown). The funeral will take place at Karoro Cemetery this afternoon.
