REEFTON NOTES

[Our Own Corresconcrent.] REEFTON, March 24. Sergeant Ebbett left for the North Island on annual holiday.

'Mrs August Idft on return to Pukekura this morning. Mr Ted Black was taken suddenly ill yesterday and removed to the hospital. His many friends Wish him a speedy recovery. Mrs S. Corrin is staying with friends in Reefton.

Mrs McWha, who has been spending several weeks with Mrs C. Haldane left on return to Murchison this morning. The swimming baths officially closed on Saturday after a very successful season. Over a hundred membership tickets were taken out during the season. The monthly meeting of the Golden Coast Co.-op. Dairy Coy. was held in Reefton to-day. It is. some considerable time since a meeting has i been held' here. Fellow workers and friends met at the Railway Station to bid farewell to Mr D. Foster-Davidson, who has been employed by the Railway Department for the last four and ahalf- years in Reefton. Mr Eric Goodall occupied the ' chair and referred to the excellent terms on which they had all worked with the guest during his stay here. Mr James Mahon, on behalf of those present, asked Mr Davidson to accept a well-filled wallet of notes and expressed their regret at losing such a good work mate. Messrs R. Hay, B. Cook and R. Heslop endorsed the previous speaker’s remarks. Mr Davidson suitably replied, thanking them for their gift and their kind remarks. He regretted very much leaving Reefton, where he had made many good friends and spent an enjoyable time. Musical items were rendered by Messrs E. Goodall and B. Carson. ’ Mr Davidson left by this morning’s train to take up his new position at Woodville. Mr E. Palmer, son of Mr and Mrs A. Palmer of Dan’s Street, has been transferred by the Railway Department to Reefton.
