CARDINAL HINSLEY
Requiem Mass [British Official Wireless. RUGBY, March 23. Queues of several thousand people waited for three hours outside Westminster Cathedral to attend the Requiem Mass for Cardinal Hinsley. Five hundred priests carrying unlighted candles took part in the procession to the catafalque in the choir. The Archbishop of Liverpoo' (Dr R. Downey) preached the panegyric sermon, and read a telegram from the Pope praising Cardinal Hinsley’s “untiring labours.” In the congregation was Arcnbishop Spellman, who arrived in London on Saturday from North Africa. TEMPORARY SUCCESSOR. (Rec. 11.10.) LONDON, March 24. The Chapter of the Westminster Archdiocese has elected t|he Right Rev. Edward Myers, as Vicar Capitular of the Archdiocese. He will adminster the Archdiocese until the Pope appoints a new Archbishop in succession to Cardinal Hinsley.
