For West Coast

PRE-FABRICATED UNITS.

In a telegram x-eceived yesterday by the Mayor of Greymouth (Mr. F. A. Kitchingham) the Hon. P. C. Webb states' that he has arranged with the Commissionex’ of Defence Construction for the placing of orders for ■ a sufficient number - of pre-fabricated units which will fully employ all carpenters and joiners on the West Coast for several months.

The construction of pre-fabricated units in New Zealand fox - use outside the Dominion was dealt with in a recent official statement, 'which indicated that a considerable amount of this work was being undertaken. It is understood that West Coast builders have approached the Government on the question of building work on the Coast, and that the placing of the orders will be an important move for the industry.
