ORPHANAGE FIRE
LONDON, Feb. 24
flffie total death roll in the orphanage fire in the town of Cavan, in Eire, is 36. There were 100 children in the orphanage, where a lire started at 2 a.m. Thirteen are in hospital. Flames were under control a>t 5 a.m. after which rescue squads, including soldiers searched the debris for bodies. The town declared a day of mourning. All businesses are closed. BRITISH BY-ELECTION.

The Government held the- Watford Parliamentary Division, Group Captain W. Helmore (Conservative) receiving 1.3,839 votes against L'eut. R. Blackburn (Commonwealth) 11,838.
