The quarterly cavils finished at the Dobson mine on Friday. Messrs J. Haclcioft. McArthur and C. Hunter, of the Mines Department, were visitors in the district yesterday. Mr J. Smeaton left last night for a holiday visit to Christchurch. Our local race horse continues in good condition. All that is required now is a racing syndicate to give the animal a chance. It may bo a second Phar Lap ! The lawns and gardens in front of the Dobson mine are looking very pretty. It would be nice if it was half as pleasant underground.
