RUNANGA NOTES
I (Our Own Correspondent) On Monday evening at the homestead of Mr. and Mrs. J. Quate a farewell party was held for Misses Myra and Dorothy Ward, who with their parents, are'leaving to take up their residence in Nelson. Miss Jean Wright presented the guests with a brooch each, and Mr. George Bowman, who replied on their ' behalf, thanked the gathering for their gilts and expressions of esteem. Mr. L. Wearne, in thanking Mr. and Mrs. Quate for their hospitality, wished the departing guests every happiness in the future. Games were carried on during the evening, Miss Merle Armstrong being the prize-winner. About midnight the party concluded with the singing of “For” They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” Misses B. and J. Gillaly left by Monday’s rail-car for Christchurch. Miss Unice Higgson left on Tuesday for Christchurch. Miss D. Uren of Christchurch who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Uren, Ballance Street will leave by the rail-car this evening for Christchurch, where her marriage will take place shortly to Mr. J. McDowell of Gore.
