SHUNTING FATALITY. DUNEDIN, Nov. 16. David Annan Jordan, 21 railway porter, was found dead beside the tracks in a shunting yard last night, with extensive-injuries suggesting he was run over, or knocked down by a rake of trucks. His parents reside at Sterling. USE OF LEISURE. ( AUCKLAND, Nov. 16. That strong action is needed t 0 ensure a healthful and purposive use ot leisure by a greater number of young people was contended by a deputation from the Auck and branch of the Young Womens Christian Association which waited on the Minister of internal Affairs (Mr. Parry) at Auckland yesterday. The deputation suggested the compulsory regis tration of all children on leaving school. Alarm was expressed by the deputation at the “unprofitable, even dissipative, manner in which .many young people spend their leisure. The Minister said he would give serious consideration to the- request of the deputation, but he thought that anything tending to make a . child feel he was in a straight-jacket should be avoided.
