MEDAL FOR DRIVER
COURAGEOUS N.Z. AMBULANCE MAN.
(N.Z.E.F. Official Correspondent) CAIRO, Nov. 16. . An immediate award of the Military Medal has been made to a New Zealand ambulance member, Driver C. C. Robinson, of Mokai, near Putamru. His citation says that on the night of June 27-28, in face of ma-chine-gun, anti-tank and field gun lire, with an utter disregard of personal safety, Robinson, instead of carrying out an order to follow a comparatively safe middle course, closely followed an infantry bayonet attack. He zig-zagged his ambulance across a whole battlefield, picking up men lying wounded, and directing walking wounded to a place of safety. His act was an outstanding example of personal courage, and it was his determination and devotion to duty under intense fire that saved the lives of wounded comrades by removing them from the range, of direct enemv action, and to medical attention. “ Robinson who is 24 years of I age, is an A.S.C. driver, attached to 1 the Field Ambulance, and w'ent overseas with an earlv reinforcement. His mother is Mrs F. R. Robinson, of Mokai.
