TROOPS TO EAT LUCERNE CANBERRA, August IS. Lucerne, noted as a fodder, is to be served to troops in Australia because of its high content of vitamins A and C. Il will be dried In the sun, finely chopped and mixed with ether foods. . 'Die chairman of tne .Australian Food Council (Mr Beasley.) said that the decision to use lucerne as a f°pd for humans had been made on the advice of the Nutrition Committee. Compulsory registration of all wholesale dealers in potatoes and enforced recording of all their transactions,- have been ordered by the Commonwealth Government, as a first step in the campaign to stamp out “black market” practices in the distribution of potatoes. The current shortage of potatoes is expected to persist for some months.
