MILLERTON NOTES

Visitors to Millerton during the week have included Mesdames A. Watson, T. Holmes (Wellington), R. Blyth (Cobden), J. McGrath, J. Paul (Westport). Mr J'. Herdman has left to join the Forces.

At a meeting last Friday morning the Millerton Miners’ Union decided to invest £5O of the Union funds in the Liberty Loan.

The Caledonian Society held a social at the Rechabite Flail last Friday night, the night being an open one and there was a very large attendance. Mr T. Beverland and Mrs R. Young won a Monte Carlo waltz. Mrs R. Swan was at the piano and Mr T. Pollock was M.C.

A farewell social was given to Mr and Mrs D. Young by the Rechabite Lodge and there was a large attendance. Mr D. McMillan presented Mr Young on behalf of the members with a set of pipes and a tobacco pouch. Mr Young suitably replied. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs W. Strang and Mrs W. Strang junr. Mr W. Milligan was at the piano.
