P.A. WELLINGTON, June 2. The Wellington Harbour Board has increased its Liberty Loan contribution by £30,000, making the total contribution £60,000. “I desire to lend my fullest support to the Liberty Loan, which provides an opportunity for every person in the community to make a real contribution to our ,war effort,” said the Leader of the' Opposition (Mr. Holland) to-night. “There has been a magnificent response so far, but let us still further impress our partners in the war, and at the same time help to depress our enemies bv showing that here in New Zealand we can not only do all that is asked bf us but even more. To over-subscribe this loan would be a great! gesture to Britain and the United States, which have sent and ar e sending us millions and millions of pounds’ worth of tanks, bombers, fighters, guns, and ammunition, and . practically all this without our having to find the cash. We are prosperous because Britain is paying us such good prices for our produce. We are protected bv British and American warships. We are defended also with the aid of equipment produced in other countries. The Liberty Loan gives us an unmatched opportunit v and the privilege of showing our men m Syria, the Pacific, and elsewhere, and our men who have been called to the colours on the home front that we are readv and willing to play our part on the financial front at* home.”
