H Willoughby, of Lower Hutt, is visiting Westport. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Auld and family, Nelson, are at present on a visit to Westport. Mrs 1. Ryan presided over a meeting of the W.W.S.A held in the Library build.ng last evening. The following. business was dealt with: Transport: ’ Miss Findlay reported that 24 members of this unit reported for duty on Monday, 18th. mst.. being the night of the “ emergency black-out trial. All were sent out to collect and attend to injured persons and two girls drove lorries as improvised ambulances. Twu soldiers are being taken daily to th. hospital for treatment. All members attend physical drill classes which have a very successful practice. Members of all units of th' l Auxiliary were present, and in addition, a few non-members. Cy lists - Four cyclists reported for duty on Monday night and their services were made use of. Camouflage Nets: A letter was received asking that all nets be collected and forwarded te the P.W. Department, as no further twine was available, and letters are to be sent to those in the country who have nets, asking Diem to forward same. Canteen: Mrs. SDwell reported that she and Mrs. Bird had attended with Mr. Friend and inspected proposed emergency klichens and reported on same. In connection with the card party anti dance to be held on Friday, "it was decided that all girls be asked to attend in uniform.
