SINGAPORE INQUIRY
LONDON. May 19-
In the House of Lords Lord Davies appealed to the Government to reconsider its decision not to hold an inquiry into the fall of Singapore. Lord Hankey said that there could be nothing more foolish than a public inquiry, but he favoured a secret inquiry in London as to the London end of the disaster. The Paris radio says it is reported from Singapore that the Japanese have recovered 1,000,000 gold dollars dumped into the sea by the British before the evacuation.
