Varnham, M.C., at present Area Commander at New Plymouth, has been appointed Commander of the 7th Infantry Brigade Group in succession to Major General Wilder, with the temporary rank of Brigadier, dating from April 6. As Lieut.-Colonel 1 this officer commanded his battalion with success in Greece, and is one of the officers who have been brought back from the Middle East.
