RESTRICTIONS ON USE. P.A. WELLINGTON, May 1. Measures for the conservation of paper supplies are contained in notices gazetted to-night. Restrictions are imposed on the size of the Christmas cards, calendars, and novelties to be manufactured in futuce. The manufacture of the following articles from paper, or from any substitute thereof, is prohibited: — Lunch wraps, festoons, confetti, carnival novelties, d’oyles, serviettes and tablecloths; library book covecs, streamers, decorations, cake frills, hand-towels, facial tissues; shirt boards, stiffeners and collar-bands. Nothing : s to be typed, duplicated or written on paper larger than necessary when both sides are used, nor with margins at the sides, top, and bottom of the sheet of paper larger than are necessary for legibility and reasonable convenience. The use of both sides of the paper is not to apply to printers’ copy. Anything of a commercial or professional mature is to be typed or duplicated with single spacing, but this will not apply to drafts requiring revision. Restrictions are also imposed on the size of envelopes.
