FATALITIES. WELLINGTON, April 30. Injuries, from which he later died, were received this morning by C. Massey, of 51 Bauour Street, ptumber, when he fed down a ship's hold. Fatal injuries were received by H. Palmer, a panel beater, of Seatoun, when the motor-cycle he was ridwig collided with a motor rnrry in Herd Street. WHANGAREI, April 29. While blasting a log at his home at Kamo this morning, George Ciothworthy, aged 84, a pioneer settler, was killed outright bv a premature explosion. CHRISTCHURCH, Apr.! 29. Captain Charles James Kerr died at the E.P.S. central reporting point this evening shortly after he had arrived to serve as the driver of a car in the messenger section. Captain Kerr, who was an elderly man, collapsed at the entrance to tne central reporting point not long after the alarm had sounded for the E.P.S. trial, and did not recover consciousness. GISBORNE, April 29. The New Zealand Petroleum Company, Ltd. reports that drilling on a new location was commenced 10 days ago and has. reached a depth of 621 feet. The casing has been cemented at this depth and drilling is expected to be resumed about Monday next. DUNEDIN, April 29. New Zealand Paper Mills, Ltd., recommends payment on May 27 of a final dividend at the rate of 4 per cent., making with the interim dividend paid in November, 7 per cent, for the year.
