CATTLE VALUES EASIER. P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, April 29. Messrs H. Matson and Co. review to-day’s Addington livestock sales as follows:— Fat Sheep: The entry was on a par with that of the previous week. There was a slight increase in values. The wether entry was of better quality than that of last week. Export purchases showed no change. Values were: Extra prime Canterbury 345; prime wethers 25s 6d to 31s 6d; prime medium wethers 25s 6d to 28s 6d; light ordinary wethers 22s to 255; extra prime young ewes 25s 7d; butchers’ ewes 19s to 235; ordinary ewes 16s 6d to 18s 6d; export ewes 13s to 16s 6d. Fat Pigs: There was an extra large entry in the porker section. Values were easier. There was a large entry of small porkers, values for these ranging from 33s to 39s 6d. Choppers had the heaviest yarding yet this season. Values- were easier, from 5s to 10s per head. The bacon yarding was on a' par with that of last week. Competition was keen, and quality good. Values were: Porkers 33s 6d to 59s 6d; average price per lb. 6£d to 74d. Baconers £3 3s 6d to £4 12s 6d; average price per lb. 6id to 7ad. Fat Cattle: The entry was easier than that of the previous week, and values, except for the primest lots, were decidedly easier, especially for heifers. Extra good beef brought 37s 6d to 39s 6d; ordinary and medium 335. Values were: Extra prime heavy steers £l7 17s 6d; prime heavy steers £l4 5s to £l5 15s; prime medium steers £ll 10s to £l3 10s; light and ordinary £lO to £ll ss; extra prime heifers £ll 17s 6d; prime heifers £9 10s medium heifers £6 5s to £8 10s. Store Pigs: There was a medium entry and a keen sale, values recovering on the last week’s drop, until near the final stages, when values eased considerably. Values were: Weaners 8s to 15s; stores 19s to 355. Vealers: There was a small entry. The sale opened draggedly, owing to butchers having a carry-over. Values were: Runners £3 Is to £7 8s 6d; vealers £2 Ils to £4 16s; large calves £2 14s; others £1 6s to £1 16s. Store Cattle: The entry was small. Two lines of cattle, and one line of twenty-months Friesian heifers, realised £7 16s. One line of twenty months Herefords realised £B, and one line of 20 months Black Poles £B. Fat Lambs: There was the average yarding and sale at schedule 1 rates, with no change in values.
