LANDING BY U.S. SOLDIERS. WASHINGTON, April 25In a war communique, the U.S. War Department announced to-day: “American troops have arrived on New Caldeonia Island, the French possession in the South-west Pacific. The 'troops were sent there with the approval of local authorities, and they will assist in the defence ot the island.
